Writing Through the Chaos Workshop by Lindsey Brackett –
As a busy wife, mom, and writer myself, I am often asked how I do it all. Which only makes me laugh, because truth is, I drop a lot of those balls I’m juggling daily. However, I’ve learned some tried and true tricks that help me meet deadlines, make connections, and manage my household while building a career.
The vision for this workshop is that it be a casual time for so many who feel overwhelmed upon entering the publishing world to ask questions and receive feedback from a panel. This panel would include a variety of people who have several big things in common—they are all extremely busy, not just as writers, but as parents, teachers, entrepreneurs, etc.
The purpose of this class would not be to offer a how-to solution, but rather to foster conversation among colleagues about how we can best serve the Lord in our careers, our ministries, and in our homes.
Kristi Ann Hunter is the RITA® award winning author of Regency romance novels from a Christian worldview. Her titles include A Noble Masquerade, An Elegant Façade, and An Uncommon Courtship. When she is not writing or interacting with her readers, Kristi spends time with her family and her church. A graduate of Georgia Tech with a computer science degree, she can also be found fiddling with her computer in her free time. A born lover of stories she is also an avid reader. From very young she dreamed of sharing her own stories with others and praises God daily that she gets to live that dream today.
More Than A Story: Effectively Layering Message and Story Together Workshop By Kristi Ann Hunter
By using the architecture of a Cathedral as an illustration, this class will walk through how to layer a pointed message into your story without turning off your reader. It will cover topics such as how to determine the message you want to convey, how to set up your story to effectively hold that message, and then how to weave the message into the story itself.
Making the message an important part of the plot will be part of the discussion as well as how to start building your case early on without hitting your reader with a detailed dissertation on your position. When you take a reader on a journey to see your point instead of simply telling it to them they are more likely to understand even if they never agree.
